The problem of lacking awareness of wheelchair accessibility in the building
The accessibility of wheelchair users in the building is often neglected by people, if you’re never sitting in a wheelchair, you might have no idea what how wheelchair users are experiencing every day. My solution to the problem is by making a video recording of what wheelchair users would experience when accessing a building.
The Equality Act 2010 requires all buildings to have disabled access There is a misconception that Listed Buildings are exempt from requiring wheelchair access, due to the historic nature of the building[1]
There are videos online regarding the issues wheelchair users might face in daily life[2] and the accessibility issues in the city[3]. But there is a lack of focus on wheelchair accessibility in the building.
The video recorded the topic of why accessibility would be an issue for wheelchair users.
